A State of Trance
- February 07, 2015
- Party

I’ve always loved trance, and one of the creators of trance as we know it is Armin van Buuren. His “A State of Trance” parties (usually referred to as ASOT) are a coming together of music, lights, lasers, dancers, video production, and anything else you can possibly imagine.

NHL Game

I had never been a particularly avid ice hockey fan, but always enjoyed watching it during the Olympic Games. Plus, I’d heard nothing but good things from anybody who’d ever attended a game. Maybe it was because of the epic fights, or because it was just an awesome sport to watch, but I was really excited about going to a live game.

Test Drive A Ridiculously Expensive Car
- July 05, 2014
- Random

There’s nothing better than unleashing the full power of a sports car. Unfortunately for most people, being able to afford one is the tricky part. So while I try to get my finances in order, I figured the best way of ticking this off the list in the meantime is just to test drive one.

Party Like A Rockstar
- July 06, 2013
- Party

So after we finished in Vegas, we thought we’d have a couple of quiet nights in Los Angeles. Of course, that’s not what actually happened. In fact, there was a slight turn of events that helped me tick this item off the bucket list. It’s not something I thought I’d ever really get to do properly. But I did. And it was awesome.

What. A. Week. We made the movie “The Hangover” look like a PG-rated family movie. I don’t think I can go into all the details, because some of them are pretty foggy. But here’s the play-by-play breakdown:

- Party

Electric Daisy Carnival is the largest electronic dance music festival in the world. And while it hits cities all around the US, the holy grail is definitely Las Vegas, selling 320,000 tickets both in 2012 and 2013. That’s a LOT of people. It’s the biggest party week anywhere in the world, and there was no way I was missing it.

Tough Mudder

This isn’t really my thing. I’m not a huge fan of running long distances or spending time in mud. But this event proclaims itself to be “Probably the toughest event on the planet”, so my competitive nature roped me into signing up. I had to do it at least once.

Northern Lights

The northern lights have fascinated me endlessly since I first learned about them growing up. How could something be so beautiful, and yet so few of us get to see it? I felt like seeing the northern lights could be a life changing experience for me. This was at the very top of my bucket list.

The more documentaries I watch, the more fascinated I become with the Arctic and Antarctic worlds. There’s just something about a winter landscape that’s incredibly peaceful. It’s an escape from the loudness of everyday life – like a cocoon of silence. A shelter.

Located just outside of Kiruna in Sweden’s far north, the Ice Hotel is an incredible yearly project that attracts thousands of tourists every winter season. They pull all the ice out of the frozen Torne River, and when the hotel melts in summer, all the water flows back to it’s place of origin. This makes it not just one of the most impressive construction project in the world, but also one of the most environmentally-friendly. read more

No people. No traffic. Wide open spaces. Raw power. Then, suddenly, the track turns sharply and takes you straight through the forest. The windy path between trees is breathtaking. As you duck and weave the snow-covered branches, you can’t help but feel like an explorer.

I have a phobia of snakes. I appreciate them as animals, and I respect their place in the animal kingdom. But that in no way prevents me from being completely terrified of them. So naturally, my brilliant idea was to meet my fear head-on.

There are millions of restaurants all over the world that I’ll never get the opportunity to try. Many of them would probably also be more beautiful, more delicious and more memorable than any we’ve been to before. So instead of attempting to try all of them, I decided to shoot for the top and eat at the world’s best restaurant.

My fear of needles has been well documented, and as such I would prefer not to ever have contact with them. Having said that, donating blood has always been something I’ve wanted to do, especially in Australia where blood reserves haven’t been particularly high.

I’m afraid of heights. Like, very afraid. Whenever I’m on a plane I get nervous during take-off, and turbulence has me sweating profusely. So it seemed like a logical solution to jump out of a plane at 14,000 feet, because that was somehow going to help me overcome that fear.
