Electric Daisy Carnival is the largest electronic dance music festival in the world. And while it hits cities all around the US, the holy grail is definitely Las Vegas, selling 320,000 tickets both in 2012 and 2013. That’s a LOT of people. It’s the biggest party week anywhere in the world, and there was no way I was missing it.
EDC fell right on my 25th birthday this year. It was going to be an EPIC weeklong celebration. And despite the fact that I hadn’t spoken to a single person about it, I bought six tickets as soon as they went on sale. At that point in time I was the only person I knew of who wanted to go, but was confident I could convince a few friends to join.
As expected, within a week of telling people my plans for a Las Vegas – EDC tag team, all six tickets were claimed. It was a plan too good to be true and too awesome to fail, and suddenly a rowdy weekend was looking like it might escalate faster than expected.
The festival itself was fantastic; well organised, lots of rides, fireworks, crazy costumes, amazing production value and a world-class DJ lineup. But what made EDC so spectacular for us was the style in which we did it. Helicopters to and from the festival. VIP entrance. Private tables. Partying with DJs, models, sports stars, club owners and celebrities. Drinking out of the bottle. The whole nine yards. My cousin Rob hooked us up to unbelievable levels, and our week at EDC and Las Vegas became a story that would never be defeated.
What I really loved about EDC is that it’s actually a weeklong event in Las Vegas, where day and night every single club has a big name DJ playing. It’s literally a 24 hour party for 7 days. Completely non-stop. And with an almost 600,000 additional ravers flooding into Vegas, the atmosphere is out-of-control no matter where you go!
Our motto for the week was: “Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat”. But with very little food. Or sleep.
Here’s the aftermovie of the whole Las Vegas trip, including the EDC section. It’ll give you a taste of what it was. But nothing will EVER beat the real thing. This was amongst the best – if not the best – week of my life. Which, after reviewing some of my previous posts, is really saying a lot.
