Be Part Of A University Society

University was my chance to reinvent myself after a pretty unenjoyable time at school. I didn’t know anybody at my university, and what way to meet people than by getting involved with the societies? It basically entailed drinking, partying, meeting people and drinking. A perfect fit.
I first joined the Economics & Commerce Student Society (ECSS), and spent two years as vice-president there. As luck would have it, a lot of my university friends happened to join and then end up running the Monash Marketing Student Society (MMSS). Since we were by far the two biggest groups on campus, we had access to the best events and craziest parties. Having a social life wasn’t the problem – making time to study was.
We lived the dream for several years before we all graduated. We’re all still close friends to this day, bonded by hazy memories of good times.
Man, I really miss those days.
