Another weird one, I know. But I’d heard this was a delicacy in Iceland. I couldn’t NOT try it. I was there anyway, and it was on the menu in front of me. If only somebody had warned me what I was signing up to.
So we’re walking around Reykjavik, and we sit down at this little restaurant called ‘Cafe Loki’ (it really is fantastic, I strongly suggest you go there to try real local food). I obviously had no idea what I was in for when I ordered my dish. It seemed different, and I wanted to try the local delicacies.
It was arguably the most revolting-tasting thing I’ve ever had the displeasure of trying to eat. My gag reflex instantly started kicking and screaming. Who would’ve guessed?! It was such a TINY, almost negligible piece of food. The portion was about the size of a peanut, but the smell and flavour was more powerful than I can describe.
