FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona is one of the largest, most supported football teams in the world. And the team that played together in 2010 was arguably one of the greatest to ever step onto a football pitch. People flocked from all over the world to see the likes of Messi, Iniesta and Xavi.

Considering I was in Barcelona – and am a huge lover of football – there was simply no way I was passing up on this opportunity. Irrespective of the fact I was travelling with eight girls, I was definitely going. Even if it meant going by myself (which it clearly did).

It wasn’t a regular-season game, but rather the final of the Super Cup. The Super Cup is played between the winner of La Liga (the top flight Spanish League) and the winner of the Copa del Rey (a competition amongst Spanish teams from all the leagues). In this case that meant Barcelona vs Sevilla.

I managed to get myself and incredible seat for just 60 Euros. I was sitting on the bottom level and only a few rows from the pitch – right near the action.

As it turned out, it was a fantastic game to attend! Messi scored a hat-trick, and Barcelona finished the game as 4-0 winners. They absolutely obliterated Sevilla, keeping them to zero shots on goal for the entire game. It also happened to be the first ever appearance for Barcelona’s new signing – David Villa. And what a reception he received.

I spent most of the game in awe of the sheer skill, precision and domination that Barcelona were able to demonstrate. I spent the other part of the game feeling sorry for Sevilla.
